Long-distance move from San Francisco, CA to Brooklyn, NY

Avoid like the plague

They are a terrible business. As mentioned by others, they also delayed my move by 3 months, leaving me stranded without any stuff for multiple months. Further, they referred me to an adjustment agency to decide on the penalty amount they were supposed to pay me. They then ghosted me with the intention of simply not paying. Again, not sure why they decide this is the best way to proceed, but that's their business. And to boot, they charged me extra before making delivery, knowing that I would be in need of my stuff. Better to simply hire better movers, and avoid these people like the plague

On time.

I had a short window of time to move in, and Road Runner Moving was an affordable, efficient, and very pleasant to work with. The office staff was wonderful and the guys that came out to move us were great. Very curtious and well mannered. The qoute for our move was more than reasonable and well worth it. I will recommend you to everyone I know. Thank you again!

Long-distance move from Anchorage, AK to Cleveland, OH

Out of state move

We contracted for $8,000 for a cross country move. Two days late for pick up, then held items hostage for another $5,500. Quoted ten days for the move. The sad remains of the belongings arrived after four months. Very few items of value remained. About half of the items were delivered.

Not pleased to pay $13,000 to have valuables stolen and spend hours on the phone begging for updates. There are better, reputable moving companies. Avoid this one.

Scammers and unprofessional

Any good reviews about this company are fake! They are highly unprofessional, liars, scammers and cheaters! Your items will come back damaged and covered in mold and they will try to get more money out of you for problems they caused!!. They also refuse to send me my claims check!!! It was approved by CSI (a claims service) back in March 2023. It's almost December, I've called and emailed them for several months, and still nothing!! Now their numbers are suddenly all disconnected ! Stay away from Native Van Lines as well, they work together with Roadrunner.

Local move within California

DO NOT HIRE! Horrible!! Extremely disappointed!

Roadrunner was contracted by Charter Van Lines to to my daughter's move to Alabama from California. We provided them with an accurate inventory list and were given a "Binding Estimate" for the move of $1930.72.
Definition: “A binding estimate is a set price estimate. It is a legal agreement between you and the mover that the cost to move the goods will not exceed the price agreed upon."

We understood that if we go over the inventory list we may have to pay more. We were ok with that. We completely complied with their instructions and didn't add any items to our inventory, in fact we removed an item from the inventory provided.

Roadrunner arrived on August 3 to do the move. We didn't know at the time but do now that the movers are required to provide us a written estimate on a "Bill of Lading" prior to loading any of her belongings onto the truck.

However when the movers arrived they immediately started loading all her belongings onto the truck and NEVER provided an estimate prior or even said a word about it. Which is not the way it is supposed to work.

The driver and people with him were unclear and totally unorganized. One guy was training another and they were clearly not focused. They were supposed to disassemble items as per the contract but they did not do so on all that could be disassembled even after my daughter suggested more than once to them to do so.

Once all her belongings were loaded, that is when they presented her a "Bill of Lading". Again we did NOT add more to our binding estimate than what was agreed.

The driver told my daughter that her items were taking up more cubic feet (perhaps because they DID NOT disassemble items??). So at drop off in Alabama we would owe almost $1100.00 more instead of the $391.00 that our "Binding Estimate" had said we would owe.

What happened to the binding estimate??
What happened to the Bill of Lading being provided PRIOR to loading the truck??

In addition to all this, the driver asked my daughter what the earliest day they could drop off her stuff. Since we were arriving on August 8, she said the 9th. The driver NEVER EXPLAINED to her what the terms meant. When you ask "When is the earliest we can be there?" One would tell you the day that they would be able to be there as well.

It is now August 27, 2018. They picked up all her belongings on August 3, 2018 (24 days ago). She told them that August 9 is the earliest date. Supposedly her belongings were set to be loaded on to a truck on Sunday, August 26. WE still haven't received any communication from Roadrunner if that indeed has happened.

My daughter had only 3 days of clothes with her when she arrived in Alabama. She has NO furniture. She is borrowing clothes and sleeping on an air mattress.

We have made several attempts to talk to Roadrunner. They do NOT call us back and they are purposefully vague and condescending on the phone.

They are DISHONEST and we are being completely abused by them. They are truly horrible to work with. I wonder how they would feel if it was their life sitting in a different state for weeks and no one will help! Disgusting!

Thugs disguised as friendlies

I never take the time to leave reviews but I am making an exception if it will mean saving someone from the experience of dealing with these thugs; you will be wise to avoid doing business with them. Our initial estimate given by Moving Expert Ron Daniels (performed via photos and a detailed inventory list) was $4K. On the day of our move, the crew manager Zach said the initial was under-appraised, and raised the initial estimate to $11K. I told him we had signed a contract and to talk to Ron, but he refused and said he basically that what we signed was only an estimate and he could ultimately call the shots from there on. I tried calling/e-mailing Ron myself, but he did not answer (to this date he is not replying to my e-mails or answering calls). Since we could afford the $7K increase in price, we agreed to leave the our entire living room set and a queen bed behind, in exchange to lower the price to $7K.

It got worse, on the day of our delivery to our new home they were nowhere to be found. I called them and they told us that the agreed delivery date was only an estimate and they could actually take up 21 days after the agreed delivery date to fulfill the contract. Finally and three weeks later, two guys who were sub-contracted by Roadrunner showed up at our place with only HALF of our furniture; they told us that our stuff was apparently split into 2 shipments. Four days later, they brought the remainder of our belongings furniture minus: 1) missing chair 2) broken dresser 5) missing legs for a bench and a bookcase, and 5) missing wardrobe. To this date, they have not taken responsibility for the missing/dammaged items.

Long-distance move from Boston, MA to San Francisco, CA

Broken and Lost Items

RoadRunner was subcontracted by my original moving company Great Nation Moving and my move was a complete disaster. Roadrunner picked up my items in Maryland from the original company. Then, in the process of moving my items to California, several items were damaged and lost.

To be clear, I do not know who is responsible for damaging and breaking my items but it was either Great Nation or Roadrunner.

Roadrunner originally scheduled my delivery for between Nov 9-11. Then it became Nov 10-12. Then it became Nov 13. On the day of Nov 13, I was given a window of 8-11 AM. Then it became 2-5 PM. Then, they NEVER SHOWED UP. And even worse, they wouldn't answer my phone calls all day as I was sitting in my empty apartment. Literally I had to call my other moving company in Maryland at 9 PM eastern time and somehow they could pick up the phone to try to contact Roadrunner because calling Roadrunner myself at 6 PM Pacific Time didn't work. Finally, the owner Mattan calls me to say the truck is coming tomorrow morning (no apology) and then he proceeded to BLOCK MY NUMBER. Are you kidding me?

On Nov 14, when they brought my stuff in, they insisted on payment up front before they brought my stuff in. FMCSA regulations require that a mover can only charge 100% of the quote if they deliver 100% of the items. Well, in my case, they delivered around 70-80% of the items but charged me for 100%. I realized half of my bed is missing and my suitcase with my name tag is also missing. 2 boxes of kitchen stuff are missing too. My dresser, a coffee table, my TV, end tables, my TV stand were all badly damaged. Oh, and they also brought in several items into my apartment which weren't mine.

Here we are weeks later and my stuff is still missing. My items literally could only be at their warehouse or at other customer stops along the way but I have had to call May repeatedly to try to find my stuff. They are not willing to help and I have been threatened with a Cease and Desist for writing this review (everything I have said here is factual).

Note they have had 20 different FMCSA complaints in 2020 per the attached screenshot. I would never recommend these movers.

Don't use, rude, lost/broken items

I had a TERRIBLE and EXCRUCIATING experience with this moving company.

The movers were unprofessional and were cussing at me at the time of my delivery, delivered broken/damaged items, and had LOST my (1) bed, (2) sofa, (3) multiple boxes. Additionally, they were so careless about the moving process, they delivered several items that belonged to other people into my storage unit.

They did NOT give me a copy of my pick up nor delivery inventory at the point of contact. I had to contact Roadrunner MULTIPLE times via email and phone to receive these documents. The delivery price changed at the time of the delivery, and the men stated that they would not unload my items until I paid in full (even though I had paid the quoted amount entirely). Roadrunner picked up my items but subcontracted the delivery to Amber Van Lines.

Stay away from roadrunner if you don’t want to deal with the agony and suffering after a big life event (your move). I had requested them to move my items in June, they were not delivered until a month later. Then it was multiple back and forth on the phone and via email to get my claim process going. And now we’re in December. I paid over $2,000 and received such disrespect and lack of professionalism. The customer service agent (Chris) whom I had spoken with a lot in the months of Aug and Sept would often lack answers to my inquiries and was condescending on the phone.

After paying, you would think they would be a true moving company and at least package my TV correctly, but no, all my glass and electronics were were in cheap blanket (easily penetrable) and taped. SMH. (see picture)

Here is the kicker: they didn’t have my delivery inventory in their records, and then all of a sudden when I disputed my claim, they magically found it and showed that I was only missing my bed and sofa and not the 3 boxes full of items and appliances.

Fast, professional and convenient.

I had a last minute move this week and these guys showed up to help me move my apartment. They did a great job. They wrapped all my furniture, expensive artworks very carefully. Disassembled and assembled my beds. They was very fast, professional and kind. At the end of the move all my stuff was placed in order. Before this company all my moves was stressful, but this time it was very smooth. At the end of the day there is only one word that can represent them, they are Great at their job.
